The “usual” workhorse is known as the Manganin Cell Body Vessel. It is made of Aircraft Quality E-4340 alloy and has a single-end closure, with a 12H-1 pressure port at the bottom end. The vessel has a bore that can accommodate a 1” diameter by 3 1/2” long work piece. Other models will accommodate pieces of up to 6″ or 9 3/8” long.Manganin Cell Body Pressure Vessel.
The closure can be made to accommodate up to 8 electrical leads and a pressure port, a sapphire window, or be made into
a die for hydrostatic extrusion.
Other materials of construction are available to make the Manganin Cell Body Vessel suitable for hydrogen or various other aggressive
chemicals.
