Little Richard is a solenoid-pneumatic, piston-type valve for remotely controlled, on-off operation. The valve has a straight linkage and uses a low pressure air supply controlled by an normally closed explosion proof Class 1, Group B solenoid pilot valve (115 volts, 60 cycles, single phase, ac) that is supplied as standard equipment. A 90 psi air supply is required for operation.  Little Richard valves may also be used as a high-pressure relief device, in which case the solenoid is controlled by a pressure-sensitive device such as a contact-type gage in the line.

The valves can be provided with limit switches for remote indication of fully open and closed positions.

All parts of the Little Richard that contact the flowing medium are made of stainless steel. The valve has an extra-heavy aluminum superstructure. The body is made of 316 stainless steel in the 20,000 and 60,000 psi valves and heat-treated 400-series stainless steel in the 100,000 psi valves. The replacement stem is made of heart-treated 400-series steel. The replaceable seat is made of 17-4PH. The valve has provision for wear adjustment while in service. Furnished with necessary gland nuts and sleeves of 416 stainless steel.
